Description: Drying Days is a spatial version of the Alaska Tactical Incident Analysis Tool. It is an attempt to summarize a combination of factors and predict when a fire may become active again. The Buildup Index (BUI) is used to summarize fuel dryness below the surface preceding the rain event. The amount of rain over 72 hours categorizes the weather event. Estimated number of days needed for fuels to dry to burnable conditions based on an afternoon temperature of 70F and 30% RH.
